How to Make Massage Oil: Simple Recipe to try Right Now
You can easily spend some money and buy readymade massage oil blends from the market but making your own at home can make it more interesting to use it and test out its efficiency. Naturally, massage can be very effective in healing your body and kicking all day long tiredness and stress in no time. However, when it is backed with a high-quality massage oil made at home, it can make your session more effective and beneficial for your body.
I must mention here that massage oils are pretty expensive as they are considered as a luxurious product to be used at a salon or a spa, making your own at home can be cost-effective and exciting as well. So, here goes my guide on making a massage oil at home.
Warning: Don’t use this oil during automatic massage via massage equipment because they don’t need oils, only use it for manual massage.
How to Make Massage Oil
Before we start mixing out our ingredients, let’s take a sneak peek of things required in the preparation of our legendary massage oil.
Ingredients Required
- A Glass bottle.
- Coconut Oil.
- Sweet Almond Oil.
- Cold Pressed Sunflower Oil.
- Grapeseed Oil
- Olive Oil.
- Any essential oil. For example, Lemon, Rosemary, Peppermint, Rose, Sweet Orange, etc. For great massage oil, I recommend choosing three essential oils, while any one of these alone would also work.
How to Prepare
Once you have all the ingredients, it’s time to prepare our massage oil. Follow the below steps to prepare the recipe.
- Take ¼ cup of carrier oil.
- Now take seven drops of lavender essential oil, seven drops of rosemary essential oil, seven drops of bergamot essential oil and pour them into the glass bottle.
- Now for blending the oils, add the carrier oil and put the top on the glass bottle.
- Roll the bottle between your palms to blend the oils gently.
That’s all. Now you have prepared your Massage Oil. It’s time to give a lovely massage with your very own massage oil. Make sure that you don’t use much of it, as homemade massage oils tend to be oilier. Just pour a small quantity first, massage it and you’ll have an idea of how much to use.
For the scent, lemon oil and rose oil essential oils work the best. They give a splendid odor and are also beneficial for the skin.
Precautions
- Always perform an allergy test before using the massage oil to a large area of the body.
- In the case of an allergic reaction, use a skin-safe liquid dishwashing soap to get rid of the oil. Never use water.
- Pregnant women must never use homemade massage oils as the herbal oils present in it may have a negative impact on the toddler’s health.
- Always wear sun protection after the massage session. Some essential oils can be sensitive to UV damage. This can cause skin irritation and even rashes.
